On October 6th, 2021, two Groundwork New Orleans Crew members were murdered, and two were grievously wounded in a mass shooting while working on a green infrastructure project at the New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Derrick Copelin, 25, and Zernell Lee, 19, were talented, hard-working young men, growing into leaders in their chosen field of urban water management and construction.
A candlelight vigil to celebrate their lives and honor their incredible efforts to improve their community and lives was held last Saturday, October 9th, at the New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
Please support the Groundwork New Orleans Crew, the victims of this terrible episode, and their families here.
