Through natural disasters, government ignorance, systemic racism, and a global pandemic, New Orleans East has remained perseverant. New Orleans East is represented by the people who work to uplift their community.
Batture, a sustainable engineering company in New Orleans, focuses on green projects across the city, including New Orleans East. They are currently working with LifeCity to create a vegetable co-op in New Orleans East. But beyond this partnership, they dedicate time and resources to help New Orleans East become resilient to climate change.
Several of Batture’s projects are focused in New Orleans East. The Lakeshore Landing is focused on unused space by the New Orleans Lakefront Airport. Batture will be using water management and structural engineering to create a green space for citizens of New Orleans.
Batture is also working to find the areas of New Orleans most at risk of subsidence so the city could create plans to protect the New Orleans Coast.
Another major project Batture is pursuing is a partnership with the Ripple Effect, an educational program to teach New Orleans youth about issues with flooding and water management in New Orleans.
Batture is a quintessential symbol of how the love that exists for New Orleans East can be transformed into action. Another important symbol of this is Folger’s.
Folger’s Coffee is a sponsor of the 2022 Love Your City Awards Gala and partner of LifeCity. Folger’s was founded in 1854 in New Orleans, and has since withstood the recent tragedies of Hurricane Katrina, COVID-19, and Hurricane Ida.
For centuries, Folger’s was supported by the resilient community of New Orleans East, and by joining the LifeCity team, they are giving back. Folger’s continues to support local businesses and become more equitable. They source their coffee from ethical and sustainable partners. By sponsoring the 2022 Love Your City Awards, they are inspiring all of New Orleans East to follow in their footsteps and uplift their neighbors.
