On March 31st, LifeCity will host the Love Your City Awards Gala. The gala will support 111 organizations that have joined the Love Your City platform to share and commit to sustainability in New Orleans. These businesses have committed to uplifting their city, employees, and values. The gala will not only honor these businesses, but will pay it forward to the New Orleans East community, by preventing 8,000 square feet of flooding on a farm that will then produce food for the surrounding community.
As discussed in this blog series, a new farmers’ cooperative in Village de l’Est will be funded by the LYC Awards Gala. Each ticket goes towards supporting New Orleans East and its educational, environmental, and economic future.
If you’re reading this, you know why Love Your City exists. You know that especially for our resilient city, time is ticking- we need to act now to stop climate change and address real inequities. We saw how the tornado on March 22nd literally tore through homes and threatened lives. New Orleans can only take so much before real change needs to occur.
At the same time, there is so much positivity to celebrate! There are so many amazing organizations fighting for a better future every day. Let’s honor and support them by buying a ticket for the March 31st Love Your City Gala. Pay your passion forward.
This blogpost is part of a series leading up to the 2022 Love Your City Awards. Every ticket sold for this edition will support a green infrastructure project in New Orleans East. To learn more about this project and purchase tickets please visit www.loveyourcityawards.com.
